Video about heavy-duty transport

When an 87-ton cross-laminated timber press hits the road, it is more than just a transport operation. It is a large-scale logistics project and an important milestone for our customer.

For the first time in the company's history, MINDA has delivered a press of this size fully assembled. The TimberPress R 414 left our factory in Minden as a complete unit: over 20 meters long, with a flight diameter of more than four meters and 144 pressure shoes.

Premiere with clear advantages

Previously, systems of this size were dismantled into individual parts after assembly and test runs and then reassembled at customer's site. This process usually takes around six weeks.
For the current project, we deliberately chose a different approach: complete transport instead of disassembly.

The result:

  • Significantly reduced commissioning time – only about one week is now required at customer's site
  • Minimized sources of error – elimination of potential sources of error through reassembly
  • Greater process reliability – assembly under optimal conditions in our own hall

The time saved is particularly crucial for our customers: Shorter production interruptions mean lower costs and a faster return to full capacity.

Precision work on the road

The heavy-duty transport started at 10 p.m. in Minden. Together with an experienced Dutch transport company, every detail was planned precisely in advance. Escort vehicles and a police escort ensured that the plant reached its destination in the Sauerland region safely.

Special challenges such as construction site regulations on the B482 or narrow roundabouts in the Hochsauerland region were checked and coordinated in advance. After several hours of driving, the convoy arrived at our customer's premises at 4:31 a.m. on schedule.

Customized technology for maximum flexibility

Like almost all MINDA systems, this TimberPress R 414 is also unique. With four press chambers, it enables the flexible production of a wide variety of wood components, from glulam beams for hall construction to square timber. Thanks to increased pressure performance, harder wood species can also be processed in the future.

The successful premiere shows that, depending on the project requirements, a complete transport can be an economically and technically sensible alternative to traditional disassembly.
